About:

Fake Market CAP ($CAP) is a conceptual artwork about the speculative cryptocurrency market and meme coins by Sterling Crispin. It is not an investment.

CAP has a fixed supply of 420,690,000 coins. Each time a coin transfers between a wallet or smart contract, the publicly reported total number of coins increases in an exponential fashion. Again, cap has a fixed supply but incorrectly reports an expanding supply.

If the price remains constant, the market cap for Fake Market Cap when calculated by this incorrect coin count, will exceed Bitcoin's market cap in several hundred transfers, and shortly thereafter the size of the entire US economy, the world economy, and then quickly climb past the number of observable stars in our universe.

In an effort to avoid any confusion, this coin is called Fake Market Cap.

Fake Market Cap is not an investment. CAP is provided as is, without warranty. Please read the terms of service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this an investment?

A: No.

Q: Is there utility or a roadmap?

A: It's an artwork. The utility is that you should think about what it means, and observe how it makes you feel. The roadmap is that it simply exists.

Q: Why tho?

A: Fake Market Cap is an artwork and experimental smart contract as part of a series called Not Audited. The point of the series is to push the edge of what you might expect, either technically in its execution, or simply through absurdity. It's similar to Wiiides, another project in the series that makes CryptoPunks get wider with every transfer.

Q: Is the market cap really (SOME BIG NUMBER)?

A: Absolutely not.

Q: Why is SOME WEBSITE not updating the market cap very often?

A: It depends on how often they check the coin supply. Most coins don't change supply this quickly, so the current market cap may be delayed on some websites.

Q: What was the initial distribution?

A: I pre-sold 10% of the supply via Twitter to people so I could gather enough ETH to make this happen. In total 73 people participated.

Q: Is this a financial investment?

A: No. It was always a social experiment and artwork.

Q: The market cap is so high! Should I buy this coin?

A: No.

Q: So what's the real market cap?

A: Multiply the price it's trading at by the real number of coins, which is 420,690,000.

Q: What is the max-fake-supply that it will increase to?

A: The maximum supply is one hundred fifteen octillion seven hundred ninety-two septillion eighty-nine sextillion two hundred thirty-seven quintillion three hundred twenty quadrillion six trillion one hundred thirty-four billion two hundred sixty-eight million six hundred twenty-four thousand ten coins. Although, in an effort to avoid a bug called integer overflow, the contract will stop short of this number at some point roughly in the same neighborhood.

Q: Has the contract been renounced?

A: Yes.
